At 7:30 p.m. on June 11, Room 205 in the South Building of the College of Construction Engineering was brightly lit as the final session of the oral salon, "Lexical World, Cultural Harmony," came to a heartwarming close this semester. Students from various schools, both Chinese and international, along with faculty from the School of International Education, gathered together. Through the mental challenge of "Word Memory Game," the creative sparks of the "100-Yuan Innovation Plan," and the heartfelt exchange of sticky-note blessings, they painted a vivid picture of cross-cultural exchange.

The event began with a chorus of "Friends" by Zhou Huajian. Hoa Dong, a student from Bangladesh, led the singing, and the familiar melody served as a bond connecting the emotions of students from different countries. Next, in the "Word Memory Game," 12 squares on the blackboard concealed Chinese and English words such as "Hanfu," "dumplings," "world," "like," "hobby," and "country." The participants were divided into two teams for a friendly competition, with the goal of matching all the words first. Team members whispered hints about card positions or gestured to explain cultural connections. Amid laughter and lively discussions, these cultural symbols transformed from isolated words into shared codes deciphered collectively by students from around the world.

The excitement of the games had barely faded when the "100-Yuan Innovation Plan" sparked a new wave of brainstorming. Each group explored "low-cost ways to promote Sino-foreign cultural exchange." One team proposed an "Animal Cultural Bridge" project, suggesting a photo exhibition featuring symbolic animals like pandas and lions to connect different civilizations. Another group focused on "exchange through cuisine," planning to use their limited budget to purchase ingredients from various cultures and organize a mini food-sharing event. Yet another team explored technology, discussing how AI translation tools could break language barriers or how online Hanfu platforms could introduce traditional attire globally. Hoa Kai, a student from Tanzania, shared insights about the Great Migration, filling the room with fascination for African savanna culture. Hoa Dong from Bangladesh spoke emotionally: "Our eating habits differ, our skin colors differ, our beliefs and hobbies differbut our desire for peaceful coexistence is the same." Before he finished, Hoa Zheng from Jordan stood up and invited his friend Hoa Yuan from Morocco to introduce Arab culture and teach basic Arabic phrases, turning the venue into an interactive classroom of languages and traditions.

Wish you have a nice time in China and relax more. I belive you are the best. Thank you for your apperance and company in my life. Together we learntogether we grow. Let culture be the bridge that connects us all”以及“美美与共,天下大同”……

During the sticky-note blessing session, the "Cultural Harmony Tree" on the blackboard quickly filled with colorful wishes. Hoa Yuan from Morocco wrote "Wishing my mother happiness" and shared how his mother inspired him. Hoa Ping, a young student from Papua New Guinea, defined "love" in English: "Love gives everyone power, true and sincere." A touching exchange unfolded between Hoa Ming from Kyrgyzstan and his Chinese friend LucasHoa Ming neatly wrote in Chinese: "I wish Lucas success. Thank you so much!" Lucas, whom Hoa Ming had met during the salon series, shared their daily interactions, praising Hoa Mings diligence. He wrote in response: "Wish you have a nice time in China and relax more. I believe you are the best. Thank you for your appearance and company in my life." Meanwhile, a teacher reminded everyone to "exercise more and stay healthy," while others wrote messages like "Together we learn, together we grow. Let culture be the bridge that connects us all" and "Harmony in diversity, a shared world." Warm wishes transcended borders and languages, flowing quietly through the classroom.

As the event drew to a close, students formed an online group to extend their offline connections into the digital space. Some shared photos from the salon, while others greeted new friends with emojis. Messages of gratitude, blending Chinese and English, filled the chat.

This two-hour salon required no elaborate propsonly sincere sharing. There were no strict competitions, only seamless collaboration. When the last sticky note adorned the Harmony Tree and the first greeting popped up in the group chat, the exchange never truly endedit simply took root in a broader cultural landscape, ready to flourish.

As the lights dimmed in the classroom, the gathering titled "Diversity and HarmonyOur Cultural Social Circle" came to an end. Yet the story of cultural exchange between Chinese and international students continuesboth online and offlinewriting new chapters in the cloud that bridges East and West.
